exciting month for everyone, especially fashion – wise. Working with Kmart on this “Money can’t buy style” campaign has me all jittery about fall fashion and the perspective of keeping it trendy without breaking the bank. I’ll tell you how I try to keep it on a budget each season and then you tell me how you do it! (click through to find out more!)
Instead of spending all my new season budget, I try to focus on accessories. The latest must have accessories will add an update spark to any outfit you choose to put together. Think earrings, bracelets, belts, scarves, brooches, statement bags or shoes.
After having a handful of the latest accessories, I turn my eyes on the essential pieces – pants, tops, coats. And since fall is rapidly approaching, you should think “fur”. Synthetic, biensur, because our ethics is impeccable, although completely trendy. And you won’t need to buy a voluminous fur coat, suffice a simple vest or a throw on, just to show that you acknowledged the fur trend and you’re adding your side of the story to the general style guidelines.
Try to pick basic colors that you can crisscross and create a multitude of looks for various occasions (white, black, beige, gray – it’s like putting together a wardrobe for Angelina Jolie – wink). Pair the accessories in your mind and try to imagine how you could dress up for work and play using just the few key elements you want to bring in your wardrobe for the new season.
You know what they say:
It boils down to the fact that dropping a ton of cash on a trend isn’t an automatic to cool. Style is a cocktail. Part confidence. Part creativity. Part risk. When you got it, you got it. And that’s why others want it. Because money can’t buy style.
